Is EverCert free to use?

Yes. EverCert is free to use and does not require an account. You can create and verify proofs at no cost.

Do you upload my document when creating a proof?

No. Your file never leaves your device. Only a secure fingerprint is sent to create the document proof.

Is the proof permanent?

Yes. Once created, your proof cannot be changed. After it is anchored to Bitcoin, it becomes a permanent, independently verifiable record.

Can I verify a proof without EverCert?

Yes. Your proof works independently. You can verify it yourself using free, open-source tools.

Why does verification sometimes say "pending"?

Proofs are created immediately and later anchored to Bitcoin. Until that happens, the timestamp proof is valid, but verification will show as pending.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using EverCert ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

2. Description of Service

EverCert provides blockchain-based document timestamping services using OpenTimestamps and the Bitcoin blockchain. Our Service allows you to:

Create cryptographic timestamps for documents
Anchor document hashes to the Bitcoin blockchain
Generate verifiable proof certificates
Download OpenTimestamps (OTS) proof files

3. Privacy and Data Handling

Your documents are never uploaded to our servers. All document processing (hashing) occurs locally in your browser. We only receive and store:

The SHA-256 hash of your document (a 64-character string)
The filename you provide
Your email address (if provided for notifications)
Payment information processed by Stripe

It is mathematically impossible to reconstruct your original document from its hash.

4. Service Tiers and Retention

We offer the following service tiers:

Free Tier: 30-day proof retention, daily batch processing
Proof of Existence ($15/document): 1-year proof retention, priority processing
Assured/Legal: Custom enterprise solutions with extended retention

After the retention period expires, we may delete your timestamp records from our database. However, your OTS proof file remains independently verifiable using the Bitcoin blockchain.

5. Blockchain Timestamps

Timestamps are anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain through OpenTimestamps calendar servers or direct Bitcoin transactions. While we strive for reliability, we cannot guarantee specific confirmation times as they depend on Bitcoin network conditions. Typical confirmation times are 1-2 hours for free tier and faster for priority processing.

6. Payments and Refunds

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Due to the nature of blockchain timestamps (which are irreversible once anchored), refunds are generally not available after a timestamp has been submitted to the Bitcoin network. Please contact us for any payment issues.

7. Limitation of Liability

EverCert is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use of our Service, including but not limited to loss of data, business interruption, or legal proceedings. Our timestamps provide cryptographic proof of document existence but do not constitute legal notarization in any jurisdiction.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use EverCert for any illegal purposes or to timestamp documents related to illegal activities. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at our discretion.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
